Aruna Sairam is one of India’s most celebrated Carnatic classical vocalists, known for her powerful voice and expressive performances that connect deeply with audiences worldwide. Born in Mumbai into a musical family, she began learning music from her mother and later trained under the legendary guru T. Brinda of the Veena Dhanammal tradition. Over a career spanning several decades, she has performed at prestigious venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall and the BBC Proms, where she became the first Carnatic musician to perform. A recipient of the Padma Shri, she continues to play a major role in promoting Indian classical music globally.
